Client – BTP Conference Centre

Client Name: Brisbane Technology Park Conference & Exhibition Centre (BTP) Location: Eight Mile Plains, QLD Project Completion: April 2024 Annual Solar Production: 145.5 MW

The Brisbane Technology Park Conference and Exhibition Centre is one of Brisbane’s premier events venues, celebrated for its commitment to excellence, modern technology, and adaptable spaces. Located in Eight Mile Plains, the centre is a hub for large conferences, exhibitions, and trade shows. With a focus on providing an inviting and efficient space that fosters innovation and communication, BTP also values environmental responsibility. In line with its vision to be at the forefront of technological advancements and sustainability, the centre sought to implement a solar power solution to reduce energy expenses and environmental impact.

CHALLENGES

With an annual energy consumption of approximately 499 MWh and substantial operational costs, BTP faced high electricity expenses that impacted both finances and sustainability goals. The challenge was to create a solar solution that would cut down on energy costs, reduce emissions, and support the centre’s ongoing commitment to sustainability without compromising their operational needs.

SOLUTION

DS Energy collaborated closely with BTP to devise an optimal system solution, ultimately installing a 99.75 kW solar system comprising 210 Astronergy CHSM60N(DG)F-HC-475W panels. This system was strategically designed to align with the centre’s energy usage patterns and complex tariff, delivering an estimated 145.5 MWh of clean energy annually.

DS Energy’s solution was tailored to support BTP’s operational needs while offering flexibility for future energy expansion. By offsetting a large portion of the centre’s power needs, the solar installation contributes significantly to their sustainability goals.

RESULT

The solar installation at BTP Conference Centre is expected to deliver substantial benefits in both cost savings and environmental impact:

• Carbon Emissions Reduction: An estimated 105.2 tonnes of CO₂ per year will be prevented, underscoring BTP’s commitment to a greener future.

• Annual Cost Savings: The system is projected to save BTP approximately $41,535 annually on electricity costs.

This successful project not only contributes to the centre’s commitment to sustainability but also aligns with their values of innovation and operational efficiency. By reducing reliance on grid electricity, BTP strengthens its reputation as a forward-thinking, environmentally conscious events venue. DS Energy is proud to have partnered with BTP in their journey toward a more sustainable future.
