Stockland Rockhampton is one of Central Queensland’s most prominent shopping destinations, playing a key role in the region’s retail economy. With thousands of daily visitors and a broad mix of tenants, the centre required a solar system that could deliver substantial energy output without compromising day-to-day operations.
CHALLENGES
Implementing a solar system of this scale on an active retail site presented several key challenges. The sheer size of the 2.6MWp system required expert planning, particularly in terms of cable management, rooftop access, and coordination with central operations. With multiple buildings and tight installation windows, the project required precision execution and careful consideration of ongoing maintenance accessibility to avoid disruptions in the future.
SOLUTION
DS Energy designed and installed a 2,673.3 kW solar system featuring 5,628 Astronergy CHSM60N(DG)F-HC-475W panels across Stockland Rockhampton’s expansive rooftops. Special attention was given to cable routing and structural integration, ensuring optimal performance, system safety, and visual cleanliness. Our team worked closely with onsite stakeholders to deliver the installation with minimal impact to tenants, shoppers, or services, ensuring continuity of operations while progressing toward the client’s sustainability goals.
RESULT
The system is expected to reduce Stockland Rockhampton’s carbon emissions by approximately 2,646 tonnes of CO2 each year, which is a major step forward in their commitment to reducing environmental impact. Beyond the emissions savings, the solar system is set to provide long-term cost benefits through reduced grid reliance and improved energy efficiency.
